Abdul Sattar Edhi has passed away 9 July 2016. Abdul Sattar Edhi funeral prayers will be offered after Zuhr 9 July 2016 Govt should immediately announce a state funeral with a 21 gun salute. If he is buried after Zohar prayers,I will shut my doors 2 democracy.

“His funeral prayers will be offered at the Memon Masjid in Bolton Market, Karachi after Zuhr prayers on Saturday,” announced his son Faisal Edhi. And he will be buried at the Edhi village centre.

Edhi, 88, was critically ill and was put on a ventilator earlier in the day. He started facing difficulty while breathing during his routine dialysis procedure. He was under treatment at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT).

His son Faisal Edhi and wife Bilquis Edhi had requested the nation for prayers for Abdul Sattar Edhi’s health after doctors had termed his condition critical.

Now it has been learnt that Abdul Sattar Edhi is no more.

Referred to as “Pakistan’s Mother Teresa”-Edhi is survived by four children and his wife Bilquis Edhi.

Pakistan mourns the death of the biggest humanitarian and philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi today. He was the founder and chairman of the Edhi Foundation.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced one day of mourning, a state funeral and highest civil award the Nishan-e-Imtiaz in honor of Eidhi Sahab.

Prime Minister who is likely to return to Pakistan from London later in the evening tomorrow expressed a wish to attend the funeral. However Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will now attend the funeral in his stead,

Who was Abdul Sattar Edhi?

Edhi, was born in 1928 in a village called Bantva inside what is now India’s Gujarat state.

He received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for public service in 1986. The Edhi Foundation operates ambulance services, orphanages, women’s shelters, dispensaries and morgues in several Pakistani cities.

Last year Jone Boone of The Guardian regarded Abdul Sattar Edhi “Pakistan’s humble founder of a charity empire.”

Edhi was renowned world over for his social work. He was nominated several times for the Nobel Peace Prize as well.


Edhi Sahab had bagged many national and international awards for his services to humanity.
